Opinion: I enjoyed this book a lot. In fact it is my favorite book on “modern” stoicism mainly because the author offers the ideas of the original philosophers untouched before giving his “contemporary” interpretation. Besides, the format of the book is great if you can only read some pages a day – in my case, I read this book for second time in my commute to work. Even if sometimes ideas may get somewhat repetitive, I believe that it may even be something positive so that information flows from the hippocampus (short term memory) to the cortex (long term storage). Stoicism is a counterintuitive practical philosophy which is especially difficult to apply when most needed (e.g., when you want to punch your boss, flat mate, or assistant professor of finance in the face). To become a stoic you need to read and assimilate the ideas, put them into practice, and repeat the cycle once and again.
