BASIC ECONOMICS by Thomas Sowell

Author: Thomas Sowell is an American economist and social theorist who is currently a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. Sowell writes from a libertarian conservative perspective, advocating supply-side economics.

Book: Basic Economics is one of the most relevant books about economics ever written. It is a presentation of economics in plain, straightforward language, without the jargon, graphs, or equations that dominate most other economists’ writings. This book illustrates the economic principles it explains with real-life examples of different countries around the globe. Opinion: As its name says, this book is BASIC. I think that it should be read by people with little understanding of economics, such as kids, journalists, politicians, or university professors of finance. However, it could still be useful for more advanced individuals who want to expand their understanding of some market processes. There are many similarities between this book and “Economics in One Lesson”, furthermore, I strongly believe that those who read these two books, can understand the economy far better than most “economists” of the country.
